To fulfill the purpose of Food Safety Act, 2013, Food Safety Officer joined Sunamganj District on 25-10-2020. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, Sunamganj District Office has completed the operation of setting up an office in Sholghar area of the city under contractual rent. In order to create public awareness, this office has organized 15 seminars on food safety at the upazila level and 1 at the district level. As well as 5 school seminars, a total of 15 meetings of the district and upazila food safety management coordination committee until June 2023 has been conducted. In addition, public meetings, video screening, miking, distribution of leaflets and pamphlets etc. are being conducted. Training has been provided to 300 food workers from BFSA Sunamganj district office. To ensure the quality and safety of food products, 36 food samples have been sent to various laboratories for testing so far and investigations are being conducted following complaints received on hotline services 16155 and 333.
